Ibn Rushd National Academy (IRNA) is a co-educational IB continuum world school, offering a pioneering, mission-driven, and research-informed learning environment.

IRNA’s pioneering work aims to enhance access to internationally-minded education programmes, and effective pedagogical approaches in the community’s own mother tongue. IRNA is the first school in the world authorised to offer the IB Primary Years programme (PYP) using Arabic as the main language of instruction. Working with Ministries of Education and Local Education Authorities, IRNA has supported several education reform initiatives across the Middle East.

As an IB continuum world school, IRNA offers its scholars the opportunity to further their academic and personal growth and development through the International Baccalaureate Primary Years programme (PYP), Middle Years programme (MYP), and Diploma programme (DP).

The bilingual Arabic/English primary years programme (PYP) is adopted in Kindergarten and Primary School (Grades 1- 5), using Arabic, the mother tongue, as the main language of instruction.

Throughout Middle School, Grades 6 - 10, budding scholars pursue their education following the Middle Years programme (MYP) using English as the main language of instruction. Scholars sit for the bilingual MYP certificate in Grade 10.

During High School, Grades 11 - 12, IRNA scholars pursue the full IB Diploma, which in addition to the academic subjects, includes Theory of Knowledge; Creativity, Action and Service; and the Extended Essay.

IRNA’s unique learning engagements encourage its budding scholars to reason analytically, think creatively, and communicate critically. Through its community development centre, IRNA provides various enriching opportunities in line with its mission; namely for its community members to contribute positively in developing themselves, and in making a positive contribution to their societies and the world around them.

Ibn Rushd National Academy takes its responsibility towards the environment seriously. IRNA has several initiatives with the local community to raise awareness of, and take meaningful action, towards caring for the environment. IRNA’s permanent campus is in Naur, an under-privileged area in Jordan, and is spread over an 18,000 sqm plot. The green campus is environmentally friendly and sustainable. Its Electricity is provided through solar energy and its waste management plant provides grey water for irrigation of its aquaponics centre and green spaces.
